Please clean all components before using the hookah. The base should be completely unscrewed and each component should be cleaned with lukewarm water. It is particularly important that the components are then dried again and there are no water residues on the stainless steel parts! Please do not use hot water when cleaning. Threads and cuts can tilt/jam if these areas are wet and not properly dried. Please make sure that after each cleaning process the threads and cuts are dry, as well as the areas where the cut joints or the thread is screwed in / plugged in. Especially cuts tend to tilt/jam when they are placed a little tighter. To ensure that the pressure on the cuts does not become too strong, place the cuts only slightly into one another, and do not increase the pressure on the cut joints, for example do not press down on the cut joint or twist the cut joint in place. Also ensure that the thread between bowl adapter and ashplate is not screwed in too tight.
The Base of Edition 4 is already assembled when you buy an Edition 4. Screw the downstem into the base and then screw the smoke stem into the base from above, so that the thread of the downstem is screwed to the smoke stem. Then assemble the ash plate by pushing the head adapter with the external thread through the hole in the charcoal plate and then screwing it on the M16x1 adapter with the 18/8 cut joint. You can now put the ash plate in the smoke stem. Now fill up the bowl with water and screw your assembly onto the thread of the vase. Please make sure to carefully put the base on the thread, as the base has an external thread and can be damaged if the stainless steel should be struck hard. Now place the 4 x 11mm glass balls in the side holes of the base and then insert a hose end piece into each port. Then the silicone hose with mouthpiece can be attached to the hose end pieces.
The base of the Edition 4 has the function to blow out the smoke from the vase, even though each port has a ball in it. This works with the built-in APS component (AEON Purge System). The default setting of the base is in the flush position. This ensures easy blowing out, but the system can leak if you pull extremely hard or pull with several people at the same time. Here, the APS is recommended to be screwed in a tighter position, as this increases the spring tension in the APS and makes the system more tight. The maximum setting of the APS can be seen on the right of the image and ensures that the system is extremely tight, but the purge is then harder as well. We recommend that you try several positions of the APS. Should you want to smoke alone, we would recommend you screw all APS down except for your own which should sit flush (where your hose is positioned). Also remove the glass ball at your hose connection. The APS may also be in a different setting with other hose connections. It is not necessary to set all 4 APS equal. Please note, the further the APS is screwed into the base, the tighter the system gets, but also the more difficult the purge.
The APS is used to vent the shisha from excess smoke, aka purging. All settings that can be made here by means of the APS, are only for fine-tuning the purge. The sensitivity of the draw, can not be adjusted here (ie how easy you can pull on the hose).
To find the best setting for yourself, it is sufficient for the base to be screwed in with the downstem in the bowl filled with water (the APS must be installed, top stem not necessary). It is enough to simply pull and blow through one hose, which makes the adjustment much easier.
First an info:
- Load on the APS is to be increased (APS is turned clockwise) - makes the purge more difficult, the back pressure is higher, the system is tighter, it is recommended if several people smoke at the same time.
- Release load on the APS (APS is turned counterclockwise) - makes it easier to blow out, the back pressure gets lower, the system becomes leaky when pulling hard on the hose, recommended for a single person smoking.
For the basic setting, the APS screws should be screwed approx. 1-2mm deep in the base. Please make sure that after cleaning the shisha the holes of the base as well as the components of the APS are thoroughly dried.
Generally, the "lighter test" is recommended.
Here, we pull from one hose and test with a lighter if the remaining 3 hose connections pull the flame into the hookah. Keep a lighter by the side of the 3 hose end pieces, where no hose sits. Turn on the lighter and then pull on your hose.
Case 1. flame pulls into the hose connection?
- Screw on the hookah and increase the load of the APS on all connections by half a turn (clockwise deeper into the base).
Repeat the process until the flame of the lighter is no longer affected by the draw.
Case 2. Flame does not pull into the hose connection from the beginning?
- In case purging feels too heavy, adjusting the load slightly will solve this (turn counterclockwise out of the base).
Please make sure not to loosen the APS load too much, as otherwise external air could be pulled in. If that happens, proceed again as in case 1.
- In most cases, this is because the spring load is too low or the parts are wet. If you can not find a solution to your problem despite the instructions above, please contact AEON by e-mail at [email protected] or WhatsApp to +49 151 40510670, they will help you as soon as possible.
The draw reducer included in the Edition 4 - Premium and Premium Plus can optionally be placed in a hose end to adjust the draw. The draw reducer is placed between silicone hose and hose end, reducing the draw from 11mm to 7.5mm. So if you prefer a heavier traditional draw, this is for you.
Should you smoke alone on the Edition 4 - Basic, Premium or Premium Plus, you may like to take out the ball from the base when you connect. This makes the draw a little easier again and you can even more easily purge.
- Adjust draw:
The draw of Edition 4 can be adjusted by adjusting the length of the downstem and the smoke stem. If you have a short downstem and a short main stem, Edition 4 smoking is more direct and you're pulling fresh smoke faster because the volume in the bowl is lower. However, this is not recommended if you smoke with several people at the same time as the smoke can then warm up too quickly. If you smoke with 3 or 4 people at the same time, we recommend smoking with a long downstem and a long main stem.
- How much water does the vase need?
Since all bowls are handmade and always slightly different, we can not give a blanket statement of how much water has to be in the vase. The downstem without diffuser should be about 1.5 - 2cm in the water. If you are using a diffuser, the water should be about 1 cm above the top of the diffuser.
- How often should I clean the hookah?
The Shisha should be thoroughly cleaned after each smoking. Please take all components apart and clean them thoroughly with lukewarm water. Then please dry all components well and then reassemble.
- Edition 4 is buzzing - why can that be?
If Edition 4 is buzzing when it's blown out, it's because the spring in the APS is wet. Please clean the components individually in the APS and then dry the components thoroughly again. Also by screwing in the spring you can see if the hum goes away.
- Can I attach a 18/8 cut to Edition 4, e.g. a molasse catcher?
Yes you can. The smoke stem elements have an 18/8 cut on top and there you can put all the glass smoke stem, mola catchers or pre-coolers with 18/8 cut.
- The smoke does not come out at the top but on the hose ports, why is that?
The smoke can also come out of the hose ports, this is completely normal. There are 8 valve balls in the Edition 4. The 4 small 6mm lift off earlier, because they are much lighter than the 4 11mm balls in the hose end pieces. However, if the pressure is so high (for example, if you blow very hard), the other 11mm balls are raised and the smoke can escape from the hose end pieces. If the smoke only escapes from the hose end pieces and not from the 6mm balls, then the 6mm balls are clogged. For this please just keep the other 3 hose ports shut with your fingers and blow into your hose several times with full force (remove head of the hookah, in case water splashes up). Of course, the best way to fix the blockage of the small 6mm balls in the base is to remove them and thoroughly dry the area where the balls are in, dry the ball and the port so that the balls do not stick.
